This project aims to improve the health and productivity of insect farms through innovative biotechnological solutions.<\/p>\n<h3>Methodology and process<\/h3>\n<p>Pathogens in species such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proteinsecta.com\/en\/tenebrio-molitor-6\/\"><em><strong>Tenebrio molitor<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>and <em><strong>Acheta domesticus<\/strong><\/em> are being investigated using advanced techniques like PCR, with the goal of identifying and controlling diseases affecting these insects. Additionally, treatments with antiviral, antibiotic compounds, and essential oils are being evaluated for use in insect farming.<\/p>\n<h3>Final impact<\/h3>\n<p>This project will not only enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector but also help establish innovative standards in the field of insect livestock farming. According to this, the impact on developing sustainable livestock practices that improve animal health, minimizes the effects of climate change and produce zero waste.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Resolviendo problemas de la cr\u00eda de insectos para la alimentaci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<p>El objetivo de este proyecto, coordinado entre la empresa Proteinsecta S.L. y la Universidad de Murcia, es llevar a cabo una investigaci\u00f3n para el desarrollo de nuevos protocolos de diagn\u00f3stico y tratamiento de enfermedades y pat\u00f3genos en especies de insectos utilizados en la cr\u00eda comercial para la alimentaci\u00f3n humana y animal. Este proyecto busca mejorar la salud y productividad de las granjas de insectos mediante soluciones biotecnol\u00f3gicas innovadoras.<\/p>\n<p>Es esencial la salud y el conocimiento de las enfermedades y pat\u00f3genos que pueden aparecer en una granja de insectos. De esta forma, se promueve esta actividad emergente de manera m\u00e1s sostenible y respetuosa con el medio ambiente dentro del sector ganadero, contribuyendo al mantenimiento de los sistemas de producci\u00f3n primaria y la prosperidad econ\u00f3mica a escala global.<\/p>\n<p>Los objetivos espec\u00edficos del proyecto son:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Caracterizar el microbioma, micobioma y viroma de insectos comestibles en granjas de cr\u00eda masiva.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dise\u00f1ar protocolos para la detecci\u00f3n de agentes infecciosos y vectores causantes de patolog\u00edas y p\u00e9rdidas de productividad en granjas de insectos.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Probar dosis de compuestos con acci\u00f3n antiviral\/antibi\u00f3tica que permitan al insecto recuperarse de la infecci\u00f3n por pat\u00f3genos permitiendo una mejor salud de las colonias en las granjas.<\/p>\n<h3>Metodolog\u00eda y proceso para identificar enfermedades<\/h3>\n<p>Ambas organizaciones investigan pat\u00f3genos en especies como <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proteinsecta.com\/en\/tenebrio-molitor-6\/\"><em><strong>Tenebrio molitor<\/strong><\/em><\/a> y <strong><em>Acheta domesticus,<\/em> <\/strong>dos de las especies m\u00e1s comunes ya aprobadas para la cr\u00eda y comercializaci\u00f3n, utilizando t\u00e9cnicas avanzadas como PCR, con el objetivo de identificar y controlar enfermedades que afectan a estos insectos.<\/p>\n<p>En primer lugar, se tomar\u00e1n muestras de insectos que presenten s\u00edntomas de enfermedades para la posterior identificaci\u00f3n de los pat\u00f3genos mediante t\u00e9cnicas metagen\u00f3micas y moleculares de posibles especies de bacterias, hongos, virus y \u00e1caros. Las inoculaciones posteriores de los distintos pat\u00f3genos detectados permitir\u00e1n identificar la causa de la enfermedad, lo que facilitar\u00e1 su posterior detecci\u00f3n en el futuro. Adem\u00e1s, se buscar\u00e1n soluciones para desarrollar el control y tratamiento de los diferentes pat\u00f3genos y enfermedades identificadas. Se probar\u00e1n m\u00faltiples compuestos antivirales y antibi\u00f3ticos en diferentes concentraciones para evaluar su efecto frente a infecciones experimentales.<\/p>\n<h3>Impacto final<\/h3>\n<p>Este proyecto no solo mejorar\u00e1 la competitividad y sostenibilidad del sector, sino que tambi\u00e9n ayudar\u00e1 a crear est\u00e1ndares innovadores en el \u00e1mbito de la ganader\u00eda de insectos. Como resultado de las actividades del proyecto se pretende contribuir a la mejora del sector de la cr\u00eda de insectos mediante el desarrollo de servicios de diagn\u00f3stico y tratamiento de enfermedades y pat\u00f3genos en insectos, posibilitando pr\u00e1cticas ganaderas que mejoren la salud animal.
