Traditional plant-based alternative protein sources, such as lentils, fava beans, and chia seeds, along with &#8220;novel food&#8221; protein sources (microalgae, insects, mycoproteins, tomato and mallow leaves, duckweed), and agro-industrial by-products (tomato pulp, sesame cake, date cake) have been selected for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>At Proteinsecta, we are actively participating in this project by developing insect-based proteins.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How are these proteins obtained?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Through innovative and eco-friendly processing technologies, the impact on nutrients is minimized to produce the selected proteins. These alternative proteins will then be implemented in over 20 final products (protein powder concentrates as ingredients, capsules for use as supplements, and various protein-enriched foods and feeds) and introduced to Mediterranean consumers across different regions (the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sustainable Alternatives<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>ProxIMed is a high-impact project aimed at the exploration, development, and implementation of alternative protein products based on consumer choices and the environmental assessment of innovative and green technologies, with the direct involvement of industry partners in the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n<p>In this way, all processes involved in the value chain of these proteins are considered, selecting the most sustainable production technologies, which provide environmental, economic, and social benefits.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Promoviendo el uso prote\u00ednas alternativas m\u00e1s sostenibles<\/h1>\n<p>El objetivo de ProxIMed es introducir prote\u00ednas de fuentes sostenibles en los sistemas de alimentos y piensos mediterr\u00e1neos para promover y establecer el uso de prote\u00ednas alternativas. Fuentes tradicionales de prote\u00ednas alternativas de origen vegetal como lentejas, habas y semillas de ch\u00eda; fuentes proteicas de \u201cnuevos alimentos\u201d (microalgas, insectos, micoprote\u00ednas, hojas de tomate y malva, lenteja de agua) y subproductos agroindustriales (pur\u00e9 de tomate, pastel de s\u00e9samo, pastel de d\u00e1tiles) se seleccionan para este prop\u00f3sito.<\/p>\n<p>El \u00e1rea de Desde Proteinsecta participamos de forma activa en este proyecto desarrollando prote\u00ednas de insectos.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo se consiguen estas prote\u00ednas?<\/h2>\n<p>A trav\u00e9s de tecnolog\u00edas de procesamiento innovadoras y ecol\u00f3gicas se consigue minimizar el impacto en los nutrientes para producir las prote\u00ednas seleccionadas.
