After 5 months, the CHEERS consortium has met in Madrid for two days this week. CHEERS General Asambly took place on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th of March, reuniting all the parters of the project to discuss all the latest updates and project developments of these months. One of them is the insect demo-plant, which has recently started to work on procesing Tenebrio molitor<\/em>. This part of the project aims to upgrade brewery side-streams<\/span> (mostly bagasse) into 200l of insect protein drinks.<\/p>\n

The insect demo-plant is working<\/h2>\n

CHEERS partners had the opportunity to visit the insect platform, which is set up at Mahou-San Miguel facilities in Alovera (Madrid), during the consortium meeting. The partnerts have been able to see all the stages of the insect Tenebrio molitor<\/em> and how is done the process to convert biomass into high quality protein drinks.<\/span><\/p>\n

The experimental process that Proteinsecta have designed for the insect platform consists on feeding the Tenebrio mealworm (larval stage) with by-products from the brewing industry and bioconvert high biological quality insect proteins in a new nutritional beverage. It is important to undestand all the process of the Tenebrio on a farm production and its life cycle<\/a> to desing a correct diet formula for the insect and optimise biomass production for the experimental studio. <\/span>The insect platform will be active until 2026 and Proteinsecta will lead all the experimental trials there.<\/p>\n

Proteinsecta\u00b4s experience on insect farming<\/h2>\n

Proteinsecta has been working on the insect industry for years. All the knowleadge on entomoculture and insect production process that the company has developed is the main reason why it was chosen to lead the experimental trials on the insect demo-plant for the CHEERS project. Insect farming is a sustainable alternative to produce animal and human food, apart from frass and other products.<\/p>\n

El consorcio de CHEERS se re\u00fane Madrid<\/h1>\n

Despu\u00e9s de 5 meses el consorcio de CHEERS se ha reunido en Madrid durante dos d\u00edas esta semana. La Asamblea General de CHERRS tuvo lugar el martes 25 y mi\u00e9rcoles 26 de marzo, reuniendo a todos los socios del proyecto para discutir las \u00faltimas novedades y acciones del proyecto de estos meses. Uno de ellos es la planta piloto de insectos, la cual acaba de empezar a procesar Tenebrio molitor. En esta parte del proyecto se pretende revalorizar residuos de la industria cervecera (principalmente bagazo) en 2oo litros de bebidas con prote\u00ednas de insecto.<\/p>\n

La planta piloto est\u00e1 en funcionamiento<\/h2>\n

Los socios de CHEERS tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la planta de insectos, ubicada en las instalaciones de Mahou-San Miguel en Alovera (Madrid), durante la reuni\u00f3n del consorcio. Todos los socios pudieron ver las fases por las que pasa el insecto Tenebrio molitor <\/em>y c\u00f3mo se realiza el proceso de conversi\u00f3n de biomasa en bebidas con prote\u00ednas de alta calidad.<\/p>\n

El proceso experimental que Proteinsecta ha dise\u00f1ado para la plataforma de insectos consiste en alimentar a los gusanos del Tenebrio (en fase larvaria) con subproductos de la industria cervecera y, a trav\u00e9s de la bioconversi\u00f3n de prote\u00ednas de insecto de alta calidad, producir nuevas bebidas nutricionales. Es importante entender todo el proceso por el que el Tenebrio pasa durante su ciclo de vida y en una producci\u00f3n industrial para dise\u00f1ar una formula correcta para la dieta del insecto y optimizar la producci\u00f3n de biomasa para el estudio. La planta estar\u00e1 en activo hasta 2026 y Proteinsecta liderar\u00e1 todas las pruebas experimentales realizadas all\u00ed.<\/p>\n

La experiencia de Proteinsecta en las granjas de insectos<\/h2>\n

Proteinsecta lleva trabajando en la industria de los insectos durante a\u00f1os. Todo el conocimiento sobre entomocultura y en cr\u00eda y producci\u00f3n de insectos que la empresa ha ido desarrollando a lo largo de los a\u00f1os es la raz\u00f3n principal por la que fue elegida para liderar los experimentos en planta piloto del proyecto CHEERS.
